Peak limiting is what makes mixes louder, but limiting your peaks is essentially a form of clipping which can add a distorted quality to you mixes. It's not the increase in (perceived) volume that makes albums sound distorted it's the fact that you've acutally squared off/clipped youryour waveform. Digital limiters like the L1 and L2 are very effective at limiting, thereby creating that distorted quality. By using an analog MOSFET limiter (designed by Greg Gualtieri of Pendulum Audio) we can provide you with an analog peak limiter that limits the peak in a less clipped manor and also adds no distortion below the limiting threshold. More importantly, we don't feel the need to make CDs excessively loud and will limit only as much as you ask us to.
